Responsible Behavior with Younger Children: A school-based universal prevention approach to…
Home / Join the Community / Trauma-Informed Schools
Hosted by the Campaign for Trauma-Informed Policy and Practice. The mission of the CTIPP is to to create a healthy, just, resilient, and trauma-informed society where all individuals, families, and communities have the social, political, cultural, economic, and spiritual opportunities and support necessary to thrive.
Students, teachers, and staff regularly experience adversity and stress outside of school, which can impact the entire community. Schools are uniquely positioned to reach nearly every child and family to provide positive experiences and healing support. And yet, research shows that traditional disciplinary strategies in our nation’s schools are ineffective and can contribute to negative educational outcomes while re-traumatizing students.
Trauma-informed schools create the culture and conditions to hone resiliency and emotional regulation skills for students, teachers, and staff. It is less about a specific program or curriculum and more about a commitment to an ongoing process, individualized for each school community.
Join this CTIPP CAN call to learn practical strategies and real-life examples of schools that are creating safer and more supportive environments for everyone.
