Child sexual abuse is a significant public health problem and problematic sexual behavior (PSB) is most likely to emerge during adolescence. While research shows that these youth have high rates of adversity, once they have sexually harmed another child, their own trauma histories are often ignored with treatment primarily focused on reducing risk for reoffending. We will introduce how Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can be applied to adolescents engaging in PSB and provides implications for practice and future research. We will talk about our steps developing a model of TF-CBT for adolescents engaging in PSB and discuss our pilot study for using this intervention in community-and facility-based adolescent settings.
