Applying a systems thinking lens to child sexual abuse in sport: an analysis of investigative report findings and recommendations

This study examines investigative reports on child sexual abuse (CSA) across five Australian sports—swimming, cricket, gymnastics, football, and tennis—to assess how extensively a systems thinking approach was used to explore the wider systemic factors that contribute to CSA in sport. Results of the study show that a systems thinking approach was adopted to attempt to understand the causes of CSA. It recommends that further research is conducted to develop more effective prevention programs.
