In this brief workshop, Mr. Prescott will offer ideas for understanding the underlying motivations of harmful behaviors. He will draw on principles from self-determination theory, motivational interviewing, and the good lives model. Discussion of your challenging cases is encouraged!
At the conclusion of this Lunch and Learn session, attendees will understand and be able to:
- Describe the motivations underlying harmful behaviors
- Create a treatment plan that involves “approach goals”
- Describe strength based approaches to working with children and youth engaging in PSB
