Prevention Is Power
Safe Kids Thrive helps youth-serving organizations (YSOs) identify and prevent child sexual abuse before it occurs, or ensure its earliest possible detection and reporting. A comprehensive child abuse prevention framework is a proactive one.
A Five-Year Legacy of Fighting Child Sexual Abuse
The Massachusetts Legislative Task Force on the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse is a multi-agency collaboration of almost 30 public and private youth-serving agencies, offices, and organizations from across the Commonwealth. The Task Force, chaired by the Children’s Trust and the Office of the Child Advocate, has met regularly since 2015.
With our collective goal of developing guidelines and tools to help YSOs protect children from sexual abuse, our work coalesced around six task force committees and seven topical areas:
- Policies and Procedures
- Screening, Hiring and Criminal Background Checks
- Codes of Conduct
- Monitoring Behavior
- Safe Physical Environments and Safe Technology
- Responding and Reporting
- Education and Training (for Adults and Children)
Each of our committees have developed guidelines and tools for child sexual abuse prevention and intervention within the respective youth-serving organization sub-areas, in order to build this comprehensive digital resource with policy and procedure recommendations across YSOs.
